A most unusual silver mounted carbine by John Harman Londini circa 1725 with full silver mounts and furniture and the finest silver wirework to both sides of the butt depicting Aeolus and the Four Winds. The barrel retains London proof marks along with Harman’s private mark. The lock is later and would appear to have been fitted towards the end of the 18th Century. The mounts are of high quality and the wirework throughout the gun is important and of outstanding quality.
The ironwork has sustained considerable rust damage over the years and remains in places with some pits. The silver mounts are in fine condition, the stock, which has had a fracture repair, is in otherwise good condition and the wirework is intact with one or two small losses.
