A very fine brass Gunners Caliper by Matthew Berge, of 119 Piccadilly, London with full calculations for loads of service and proof, for brass and iron guns; and powder calculations for brass mortars and howitzers.

Condition:  The whole in fine and clean condition throughout with no serious abrasions or wear to the engraving.  Calipers retain their steel nibs to the tips.  Matthew Berge was a well known London instrument maker from 1805-1851; he was the successor to his father and to Jessie Ramsden, who originally taught his father:  two of the greatest English Instrument Makers of their period.
