.360 Calibre 1851 Colt Navy, Richards-Mason Conversion

This pistol is US Navy issue with inspector’s marks to the underside of the barrel and US stamp faintly seen next to Richards-Mason conversion patent mark to the left side of the frame.

Condition

The pistol is a brown gun; very little finish remains to the barrel and butt group (blue in protected areas only). The barrel group bears a different number – but in the 60,000 numbering sequence – to the butt.

The cylinder bears an original number that is different but the new frame number is added to the rear of the cylinder where it was converted.

There is still a substantial amount of faded case hardening to both sides of the frame.

Overall the gun is crisp with relatively little further wear to the barrel. The action functions well and the cylinder retains approximately 50% of its original naval scene.

Licence

Section 5, Section 7.1, Antique for Export

Reference 5624
